Western MA Chapter Facilitated

As the school year begins, school psychologists have a range of concerns unique to their positions in the schools. As the fall progresses, it would be helpful to have a community of our peers to share those concerns and develop some ideas to help us manage during this unique year. The Western MA chapter members are again organizing an opportunity to address specific issues and concerns and share strategies with each other as the fall progresses.

The format will be a series of four virtual 1.5 hour meetings, with a specific focus for each meeting. The format will entail a brief introduction of the focus, dividing into breakout rooms for facilitated discussions, and returning to share ideas generated in those discussions. The current list of topics is: Session 1- Reentry and Navigating Our Current Roles; Session 2 - Direct Assessment Issues - Problem Solving In Person and Remote Testing Issues With Tools Such As the WISC, WJ, etc.; Session 3 - Additional Assessment Issues - Problem Solving Issues With Behavior Rating Scales, Observations, etc.; Session 4 - Eligibility Determination Issues. The topics or their order may change based on participant feedback.

Participants will be able to:

  • Develop a personal plan for addressing issues of professional concern during the fall.
  • Plan for how to complete assessments under the current conditions.
  • Connect with other practitioners to discuss professional concerns and problem solve.
